Well today I’ve sorted out quite much for the game to make the accual gameplay work out, I’ve fixed the collision detection and reaction thingie for the enemy ships, now you can send of Brutal Light Blue Balls of Doom(Boom) at them buggers.
What I need to fix now is a nice way to implement background tilemaps wich I intend to use the Slick2D built-in tilemap editor TilED, fixing some nice tiles to start with and working from there.
After that I will make some nice pre-programmed enemy patherns so that different enemies behave in different ways (shooting, flypath and such). After that I will be in a nice possition to start thinking about content for the game, makeing some different types of enemies, starting thinking about powerups. GUI design and all the funny little parts of the gamedevelopment process =)
I’ll try to get a playable webstart version up as soon as I think people would accually enjoy playing it, until then you’ll have to hold on with this screen! (more will come in the days that follow!)

Well tonight i’ve spent some time getting to know the Slick2D library, I’ve started a nice little project in Eclipse (the shooter) and have set up the nececary ins and outs to make it all copile nice with Slick2D.
At this stage im all happy and amazed over the simplicity yet depth of the lib. I have tested out some features of it, the rendering process, the particle system (using selfmade particles with Pedigree and loaded it through the ParticleIO class), and tested out some Component listeners (Buttons!!! YAY!).
I think im in love, I will make some nececary changes to make Onslaught in Slick2D as well, this lib is to good to be true for me =) And it’ll be super fun to really get in deep with the system and program some neat games with it!
Anyway, tomorrow I’ll get down and dirty with Pirate Quest, and start concepting the new SoP title Hero! A Casual RPG! =) But I think I can squeze in some 2D Shooter time as well! So Updates will come soon!

Im of to the bin, but first I thought I could present you guys with a small teaser preview from the gfx part of work of the 2d shooter that Im working on!
I havent made much of a skin for it yet, im planing on makeing some sort of displacement thingie for it, It is overkill, but I need the experience ;P This is a fast Animation test, so the end result will be much more smooth and dynamic, but it gives you a clue of what im after! Anyway hope you like it so far!

I havent updated my blog for a while so I thought I could post a quickie.
I have been busy getting lost in online poker as I havent got to much inspiration for creativity lately, dont worrie, I havent lost alot of cash in the process, just 20 bucks.
This have made me pretty absent from game development, I havent done squat s**t to be frank, but now the winds have changed, I’ve dumped the poker so that I can get on the horse of game dev again. For starters I will plan a quick game that I will do in Java using the nice Slick2D library that is in development.
I realise after reading kev glass blog that he dont want to get the lib out to the masses just yet, so I’ll just say that it’s a kickass 2d library for gamedevelopment under construction. =)
The game Im planing to do is a simple R-Type type shooter =) Steer your spaceship and shoot attacking ships with your kickass laser gun =)
I’ll start makeing a good designdoc on my wiki, I’ll probably post a blogpost as soon as I feel that I got a nice design doc so that you guys can check it out and give me comments on the general ideas.
Power ups and different enemy types will come later on, right now I just want to make the basic gameplay and gfx.
Anyway, that’s all for now, I hope I got some interesting News and gfx to show soon =)

Well I did try as good as i could, guess that’s all that mathers, I was just spellbound by the idea that i could get paid for what I do for once, but I guess I’ll have to dream on for a while longer.
Now im all worked up to get crankin on Pirate Quest, I want it to be a game that we can sell with good profit so Im going to put all my efforts into this project and shine it up to the supreme!
Anyway, heres the mockup piece i did that did’nt cut it in the end, guess it’s back to the drawing board again hehehe….

Been tweeking some with the Wiki today, The dusk skin is super nice, but it did’nt really fit with the rest of the site, so I just hacked the default stylesheet to make that skin work somewhat more with the sites general design.
I probably can make it even more custom to fit better, but the Wiki is there for a purpose and that is not to look pretty but to be a good tool in my game development!
It has been a great tool so far, been working alot with it when working on Onslaught, writing down ideas and planing as I go.
It’s easy acceceble and useable and I can recommend this type of Game doc design for other gamecreators/designers!
Download your own wiki on www.mediawiki.org

Yestoday I started thinking of what I wanna do with my game in progress Onslaught.
The first step in completeing it has been done (Build mode) and I can see that the game itself is getting to be quite big for a Applet game, so im thinking of doing a light version in Applet and a full version in Java Application with fullscreen and all that comes with this.
If that would be the case I would probably try to make it a commersial product and plan up some more time for it (originaly this would be a 2 week project).
I got alot of other things going on as well, so this project would be something to be planed for the future. I got Spell of Play and Pirates Quest to work on, we are going to start working on a new Iteration soon so that will take some of my time. Ontop of that I just tryed out a job opening through Indie Gamer for doing a set of background enviroments (20 of them). It would be great if i got the job cause it gives $ return for finished works, something that Im in grave need of to continue develop my buiessnes through game development. (need some hardware upgrades and such)
Anyway, Today and tomorrow I will finish the portraits that I set out to do for Roadclub and after that it seams like I have my work cut out for me either way =)

Today I got this new slick blog up and running, Love the design and the colors and it has more options to custimize it for my every needs.
Looks like thumbnail uploading works well to, the old blog had a pretty lousy image upload script working where it downsized it without giving the image a link to the original image wich pretty much sucked when I want to post screenshots of games in accual size =)
Anyway, I hope this Blog will work out for me, and to make some sort of game news in thisone I post to you another ingame screen on Onslaugt. The game can be tested out live on my wiki, just jump over through the link above and check it out, comments are welcome and can be posted on all the places on my site (blog, wiki and forum).
Now im going to continue working on the game, dont want to fall into the site pollish trap again hehe ;P
